Privacy Policy

We designed Dinner Duel to make shared evenings feel lighter. Your privacy matters to us: we aim to handle personal information thoughtfully, use it only for clear purposes, and give you meaningful control over your information. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app and the choices available to you.

What this covers

This Privacy Policy applies to Dinner Duel and its related support communications. It describes information connected with your use of dinner planning, shared cooking activities, reminders, profile settings, optional purchases, and sign-in features.

Information we handle

Depending on the features you choose, this can include:

  • profile details such as a display name, avatar, food preferences, and cooking notes;
  • meal plans, task selections, dinner records, photos, voice notes, reminders, and other content you add;
  • an Apple-provided account identifier when you use Sign in with Apple;
  • purchase and entitlement information supplied through Apple when you buy Kitchen Coins; and
  • support messages and the information needed to respond to them.

Dinner Duel does not ask for passwords, payment-card numbers, or the contents of your personal contacts.

Permissions you choose to allow

Dinner Duel requests access only when a feature needs it. iOS presents a permission prompt before access is granted, and you can change your choice at any time in your device settings.

Camera

Used when you choose to take a picture for your kitchen profile or a dinner entry.

Photos

Used when you choose an existing image from your photo library for an avatar or dinner memory.

Microphone

Used when you record, replay, or re-record a voice message within your profile experience.

Notifications

Used for the dinner reminders you choose, including reminder time, alert, sound, and badge delivery.

How information supports your evening

We use information to provide and maintain the app, personalize cooking choices and reminders, preserve your selected settings, process purchases and restore entitlements, protect the service, and answer requests from you.

We may also use aggregated or de-identified insights to understand which parts of the experience are useful and to improve future versions of Dinner Duel.

Apple sign-in and purchases

When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides an account identifier and, where you choose to share them, account details such as your name or private relay email address. We use this information to create, maintain, and protect your Dinner Duel account and to verify account access.

Kitchen Coin purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Dinner Duel receives transaction and entitlement information needed to confirm the purchase, provide the purchased Coins, restore eligible purchases, and help resolve a purchase issue. Apple processes payment credentials under its own privacy practices; Dinner Duel does not receive your full payment-card information.

Sharing and service partners

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only where needed to operate a requested feature, provide customer support, meet legal obligations, or protect the safety and integrity of Dinner Duel.

Apple handles authentication and App Store transactions under its own terms and privacy practices. When you choose an Apple service, Apple’s privacy policy also applies to that interaction.

Where a feature uses an approved third-party service, we share only the information reasonably necessary for that service to perform the requested function. Those providers are expected to protect information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Your choices and controls

You can update profile details, food preferences, and reminder choices from within the app. You may manage app permissions through iOS Settings. Purchase management and refund requests are handled through your Apple account.

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable law and necessary recordkeeping requirements. If you delete your account, associated access will be removed in accordance with our account-deletion process.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Dinner Duel, honor your choices, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and meet legal obligations. We use administrative and technical safeguards designed for the sensitivity of the information involved. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Children

Dinner Duel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address the request.

Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy as Dinner Duel evolves. When we do, we will post the updated version here and change the effective date above. Material changes may also be highlighted in the app where appropriate.
